It's Time to "Live Up"!
After two years of work, Truths and Rights' new CD, called Live Up, will be available as of June 4, 2005. Live Up will be available for sale at Truths and Rights' concerts, starting with next Saturday's concert at Fiddler's Green Irish Pub in Cambridge, or through the website.
Live Up features 6 songs co-produced by Gordie Johnson, ex Big Sugar front-man, with whom Mojah, Garry Lowe, and drummer Eric "Speedstick" Paul toured with as part of Big Sugar. Also lending a hand with mixing is reggae producer/soundman extraordinaire, Jeffery "Luge" Holdip-a member of an earlier incarnation of Truths and Rights from the '80s-who has been the touring soundman with the likes of Nelly Furtado and Big Sugar.
Live Up features Movin' Up, and Good Times, staples of the band's high-energy live show. The title track is a remake from the original Truths and Rights' song of the same name. With a name like Truths and Rights you'd expect at least one song to be about protest; Newsflash fits that bill. The Sun tells us what goes on at night while the hypnotic Behold urges you to ward off evil. Jah Rastafari, recorded live in Cambridge Ontario , gives fans a taste of their live show. Live Up concludes with a dub mix called Guided, and affirms the band's affinity for anything "dub".
